I have never had so much enjoyment when reading a book as with this new novel by Mr James. The story starts with Mister Lyle, but does not really get wildly enjoyable until Mary enters the scene. I have always enjoyed Mr James as a wordsmith, but add to that the vernacular and oh what fun I had reading. Mr James is so special in the many emotions you feel in his writings. I felt great love, great sadness, elation, wonderful joy, loss, wonder, and moral conflict. I also sensed great beauty, loud thunder, gentle rain, thick mud, misty ocean spray, and bright sunshine. His stories awaken your emotions and senses. However, even though Mister Lyle may be the main character, Mary steals your heart and eventually the whole story. I just love heartfelt stories with many twists and turns, plus western gunplay, and this novel offers it all. Great new series. I am hooked and ready for more. Been a while since I bought one of Mr. James's novel, but recently bought both books in this series, and this one is definitely five stars worthy! Lyle, a former law enforcement officer is still dedicated to righting wrongs pulling no punches when it comes to protecting the innocent, when he confronts the man abusing the recently acquired orphan girl, Mary. The more he heard from this child the more he becomes attached to her.This compassionate ex-Lawman is definitely hooked on keeping this young lady safe as he becomes more attached her the longer he is responsible for her safety and welfare! She wants to learn about his past history, which he hypothetically related to her as a lady he called the Silver Princess. The story overwhelmingly appeals to the reader's inner most heartstrings, as this unlikely couple travels the miles back to the orphanage once again!These storylines successfully maintains anyone's undivided attention throughout this descriptive renditions of unending adventures yet compassionately motivates the reader's interest to the point you will not be able to put book aside for extended periods of time! Too, the Author's outstanding character selections were outstandingly selected for their commanding assignments from beginning to the final paragraph of this compassionately motivated masterpiece!Most definitely recommend this superbly written series of unending adventures to all readers as this old lawmen will grab your attention immediately and never lets you go until the final paragraph has been read! I am, most definitely, awaiting the opportunity to read the next sequel in this compelling series, as Kyle is beset upon by a band outlaws, who are seeking vengeance for the death of a relative and comrade!
