I thought I'd always love everything that this author writes but getting through Hidden Loyalty was a struggle. While somewhat enjoyable, the other two books in the series were far better and the High Sierra series outshines all of them imho. I truly enjoy the concept of the sibling US Marshals and I appreciated the very strong female leads of Ellie in Book 2 and Bella in this one. I also appreciate the author's handling of a the "bad guy" group in the series and that she never, ever tried to make any aspect of their rhetoric acceptable. Closing out the pluses is the stone cold fact that Ms Benefiel can write the heck out of a love scene. I like heat that stops just shy of being over the top and she does that very well.What didn't work for me was the sheer volume of coincidences that play out to make the plot work. You have to totally suspend reality to believe that events would ever happen in the convenient way they did, and while I'm on-board with suspending reality to escape into a book, there were just too many things that made me go hmmmm in this one. And Seth...he is an accomplished/selfless guy, an alpha hero and a strong team leader who just never clicked with me. I liked Bella a lot and I hope that Ms Benefiel writes about her brother down the road.This is a decent read but not a great one and I'm not likely to feel compelled to re-read it when I have so many of her books that I really enjoyed on my kindle. Read it, but don't think this is her best work. ## Loved Bella and Seth. I thought Seth was going to be a hard sell on commitment but surprisingly he was awesome. Their romance was nicely written. They had tremendous chemistry that you could feel with each encounter. The only reason I deducted a star was the crime drama. It involved Seth's dad and of course tied that up. However, it bored me. It wasn't suspenseful or even interesting. But the romance was great as were the family dynamics.
