What did I read? I will be honest... I bought this book based on the title and cover. I didn't read the synopsis at all. I thought for sure I was getting some sort of mystery or thriller. This book is definitely neither of those. Good thing I am a sucker for a second chance romance!I was hooked on this story from the first sentence. That opening scene though... I fell for these characters from the get go. I wanted the man to get his woman so bad I could taste it. These two characters have carried a love for one another for so many years, it was only right that they finally get things right.This book is told in dual point of views, past and present. I can't see this book being told any other way. It works for these characters and the story they have to tell. And what a story it was. I devoured this book. I couldn't get enough of it!If you are looking for a second chance romance with great characters, a strong story, angst, fun, and a happily ever after, this book is for you! Friends to lovers—check.Second chance—check.My kind of story, pretty much my favorite, and while WGGGTD wasn’t bad, it didn’t stand out, either. The characters were pretty well fleshed out, just not in a particularly palatable fashion. Instead of wanting to root for the couple because they have a history and a sizzle that has spanned years, I was put off by his douchitude and her willingness to submit to it. I have a hard time believe he was really pining away for her when he was screwing around with other women (even before she left).The mechanics were fine, reasonably well written, just not the strongest of stories.
